The company said this honor is part of the weekly IT publication's 16th annual Best Places to Work in IT survey, which was published in the June 15 issue of Computerworld and online at Computerworld.com. Paychex, a provider of payroll and human resource services, ranked number 35 on the 2009 list, up from number 54 last year. This is the fifth consecutive year Paychex participated in the survey and appeared on the list.
Since 1994, Computerworld's annual "Best Places to Work in IT" feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, training, and retention. In addition, this year Computerworld surveyed more than 27,000 IT workers for the list, and their responses factored heavily in determining the rankings.
"This honor confirms our commitment to keeping Paychex a great place to work," said Jonathan J. Judge, Paychex president and CEO. "Our IT professionals - and all our employees - can come to work each day knowing they'll be challenged, supported, and given the chance to grow, all while enjoying a terrific package of benefits and programs that help them take care of their lives outside of work."
In its employer profile of Paychex, Computerworld cited the company's wellness program, which is well-utilized by IT employees who participate in wellness efforts and have organized their own biking and walk/run events. It also called out several community volunteer efforts embraced by Paychex IT employees, including student mentoring and Habitat for Humanity builds.
