SAMSUNG'S NEW PHONE ELICITS MORE THAN 2 MILLION PRE-ORDERS
SSNJY | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- SEOUL, June 22 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co., the world's
second largest handset maker, said Monday the number of pre-orders
for its newest phone has topped 2 million.
The company said more than 2 million units of the new mobile phone
Samsung Jet, which will hit showrooms in some 50 countries this month,
have been ordered.
The figure marks the first time that a Samsung phone has exceeded
the 2 million mark during the pre-order period.
Some 1.8 million units of Samsung UltraTouch, released earlier this
year, were ordered before its worldwide release, according to the company.
The Jet, a high-end full touchscreen phone launched last week in
London, Singapore and Dubai, offers high color resolution while consuming
40 percent less energy than existing mobile screens, Samsung Electronics
said.
It also incorporates advanced camera and audio technologies, the
company said.
