In addition to auction-style listings on eBay, features such as eBay Daily Deal and fixed-price items make it easier than ever for shoppers to find savings instantly. The recently introduced eBay Daily Deal offers customers deep discounts -- and free shipping - on must-have items from eBay sellers, but only while supplies last. Recent eBay Daily Deals have included: an XBOX Live subscription, a Sony Vaio laptop, and an APC SurgeArrest, for 20 to 90 percent less than the suggested retail price.
Step Right Up to Play
Cantone will host "Let's Make a Daily Deal!" on June 22, 23, and 24 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Times Square Studios (44th Street and Broadway). eBay is taking over Times Square with digital billboard advertising and street teams who will recruit players for the "Let's Make a Daily Deal" game. The digital billboards will feature a live, mobile text-based game engaging Times Square crowds who can play along for a chance to win great prizes.
Shoppers can also play "Let's Make a Daily Deal" online at ebay.com/dailydealgame and enter the sweepstakes for a chance to win $25,000 worth of prizes. eBay fans can access information about the event through targeted media across Facebook, DailyCandy, Thrillist and Meetup.
"As an avid shopper, I'm amazed by the variety of items and great deals you can find on eBay," said Cantone. "During 'Let's Make a Daily Deal!' we're going to find out just how savvy shoppers are."
Audience members will be welcomed on a first-come, first-served basis, receive an eBay gift card and be eligible to compete in fun price-guessing games such as:
-- Make Your Match: Contestants are shown one item and three possible prices and must select the correct price to go home with that item.
-- Daily Deal Derby: Contestants have 60 seconds to match three eBay Daily Deal items to their prices. Match all three to win all three, but miss one and get none!
-- Price or Pass!: Contestants are shown three items and can choose whether to guess the price. Guess correctly and win, then move on to the next item or pass and forfeit the chance to win that item.
During the first game on Wednesday, June 24, at 1 p.m., contestants will play a special bonus round of "Let's Make Daily Deal" for the prize of a new Chevy Malibu Hybrid.
Cantone will award winning contestants with merchandise highlighting eBay's most popular categories, including clothing, shoes and accessories; electronics; home and garden; and collectibles.
