Some were looking for decorating ideas, others for new homes -- and all were touring houses Sunday on the 51st annual Owensboro Parade of Homes, sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Owensboro.
The event began June 20 and continues Saturday and Sunday. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The two-story home at 3161 Spring Ridge Parkway was built by Martin Custom Building. A popular stopping point in the home was the master bathroom, which featured a walk-through shower.
Brad Newcom of Madisonville was in town visiting family on Sunday. Many of his family members, including his three daughters, went on the home tour.
They attend the Parade of Homes annually "just to see what people are doing new with design (and) that sort of thing," Newcom said.
The event is something his daughters enjoy.
"They have fun," Newcom said. "They really enjoyed the (master bathroom) shower downstairs."
Chad Heady, a designer with Martin Custom Building, was on hand to talk about the home, which is on the market.
Turnout for the first two days of the Parade of Homes has been the same, if not better, than past years, Heady said.
"We get more questions about the specific products, like the floors (or the) cabinets," he said. "People are more interested in the products."
Owensboro residents Duke and Nicole Martin usually attend the Parade of Homes. Nicole Martin said they were very impressed with the Spring Ridge Parkway home.
The couple were looking primarily for design ideas for patios and bathrooms.
"We're always looking to do something different with the master bathroom," Duke Martin said.
Another Lake Forest home on this year's Parade of Homes is at 4588 Fountain View Trace.
Built by Homes By Benny Clark, the home has a "universal" design, with the idea that the homeowners can "age in place." The home has no steps, no thresholds, wide door openings, microwave and dishwasher drawers, hand-held shower heads and knee space beneath cooktops and sinks.
Clark described the home as being a "house for the future." Because of the home's design, it is easily accessible for people with disabilities.
Ruth Brown, who lives in Lake Forest, spent part of Sunday visiting the Fountain View Trace home.
Her family is considering building a home, and her daughter, an occupational therapist, recommended a universal design.
She said the home was nice and pretty. She visits houses on the Parade of Homes each year.
Ashley Bruner and Jason English of Owensboro aren't looking to build a home -- but Bruner wanted to get ideas for the future. She had friends attend in the past who told her about the event.
The couple made a stop at the universal design home.
"I'm just in love with the bathrooms and closets," Bruner said. "That's my thing."
