Lately, Chunghwa Telecom announced its plan about a promotion campaign in the island's campuses, where it will offer two types of products provided by the Mainland China-based telecoms equipment manufacturer for free, namely, the Huawei E62 WLAN cards and CHT3000 mobile phones.
In fact, the two companies have achieved several rounds of cooperation. Years ago, Chunghwa Telecom procured tens of thousands of 3G cellphones from the mainland company, as an effort to win the bid for the mobile virtual private network (MVPN) project of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (TPE: 2330).
At the end of 2007, the Taiwan mobile operator employed Huawei Technologies as the OEM of more than 100,000 3G mobile phones.
