This latest order for radios and ancillaries, the company noted, is in addition to the 35,000 units already supplied General Dynamics UK, the prime contractor and systems integrator, as part of the United Kingdom's Bowman tactical communications program.
ITT Defence Limited supplies VHF and UHF radios, associated networking capability and data backbone for Bowman, the infrastructure for the United Kingdom's battlefield digitization program. The radios are manufactured at and supported by ITT's Basingstoke, U.K. facility.
"ITT's UHF and VHF Bowman radios serve as a vital link for U.K. forces," said Ken Peterman, president of ITT's Communications Systems business. "This latest order reinforces our role as a key partner and trusted supplier supporting Bowman prime systems integrator General Dynamics UK and the Ministry of Defence."
ITT's Communications Systems business is a provider of wireless networking systems for tactical military and government systems and a provider of military VHF radios. ITT designs and integrates network-centric communications, provides engineering support, and builds a wide array of antennas, large-aperture satellite terminals and mobile-satellite defense systems.
