Mitsubishi reported brisk sales of its small car Colt thanks in part to a new government subsidy program promoting car sales, while Fuji Heavy said it got 7,018 orders for an all-new Subaru Legacy model in just one month from May 20, more than double the company's projection.
Mitsubishi will run its Nagoya plant in Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture for 27 days in July, up four days compared with the initial plan and two days more than in June.
Fuji Heavy will operate its factory in Ota, Gunma Prefecture for 26 days next month, two days more than earlier planned and an increase of five days from June.
Meanwhile, the operation of Mitsubishi's main car plant in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture will be halted for six days to bring down output.
Pajero Manufacturing Co., a Mitsubishi subsidiary which builds four-wheel drives, will also suspend the operation of its plant in Gifu Prefecture for seven days.
