On June 23 and 24, another two new Coca-Cola bottling plants started running in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, northwest Chin, and the southern city of Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, respectively, with an aggregate investment of CNY 210 million. In addition, the company put its Shanghai-based R&D center into operation in March 2009.
The global beverage tycoon previously raised the curtain on a 3-year USD 2 billion investment plan in China, in an attempt to further build up its presence in the remote areas locally. In the entire 2008, its total turnover in the Chinese market hiked 195 from a year earlier.
Coca-Cola and COFCO Coca-Cola Beverages have set up 38 bottling factories in Greater China, enrolling more than 30,000 employees. In particular, most Coca-Cola senior executives estimate that China will grow into the US beverage producer's biggest market.
