W. Marston (Marty) Becker, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Max Capital Group Ltd., commented: "The development of a Professional Liability underwriting capability at Max Specialty represents a further step in our strategic plan to diversify the operations of Max and to build out the distinctive specialty underwriting capabilities of Max Specialty, the US E&S operation we established in 2007. As has been our practice, we are hiring a proven underwriting leader with a profitable track record and an industry following. Ed Neuberger, an accomplished professional with strong producer and client relationships, will lead this initiative. We anticipate that he will quickly build an effective underwriting team and a significant book of business, primarily focused on small-to-medium Errors and Omissions (E&O) accounts, which will complement, rather than compete with, the larger-account Professional Liability businesses of Max Bermuda and Max Europe."
Ed Neuberger has been appointed Vice President, Professional Liability. Ed comes to Max from James River Insurance Company, where he was Division Manager, Professional Liability. He has also held positions at Lexington, Zurich, and CIGNA. Ed received a BA in Political Science from Towson State University in 1970.
Stephen J. Vaccaro, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Max Specialty Insurance Company, commented: "We are very pleased that Ed is joining Max Specialty. He is a seasoned underwriter with a wealth of experience in our marketplace and a history of producing profitable business. Ed will be a valuable addition to our company. Max Specialty expects to deal with specifically appointed national, regional and specialty wholesalers, and to concentrate on accounts producing a minimum annual premium of $2,500. The average premium per account is expected to fall between $15,000 and $25,000."
Max Specialty will consider the following Professional Liability risks: E&O for Architects & Engineers, Lawyers, Insurance Agents, Technology and Miscellaneous Classes; Media Liability; Employment Practices Liability; and Non-profit D&O. In addition, Professional Liability cover may be combined with General Liability cover.
Max Capital Group Ltd., through its operating subsidiaries, provides specialty insurance and reinsurance products to corporations, public entities, property and casualty insurers and life and health insurers.
