The viewpoint was later confirmed by Douglas A.Jackson, president of Coca-Cola's China Business Unit. It is the first time that Coca-Cola says so publicly.
Coca-Cola predicts, citing the strategy, China will see an urban population rise of 300 million by 2020, with a fast-growing middle-income class, and it is expected to surpass Mexico as the world's second biggest beverage market in a short period.
The giant's two bottling plants were in succession completed in Jiangxi, southeast China, and Xinjiang, northwest China on June 23 and 24, signaling its fast expansion in the country. Another bottling plant is said to be finished in Inner Mongolia, north China in 2010. The three plants are estimated to have a total investment of more than CNY 300 million. The giant will have 39 bottling plants in the country by then.
