Some of the technologies representatives from the Falls Church, Va.-based defense contractor will hear about include an underwater robot, an air-powered generator for a drone engine, fuel cells, nano circuits and night vision algorithms.
"They're taking a look at technologies and potential teaming relationships with researchers in Wisconsin," said Jack Heinemann, director of the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium, which is organizing the event. "What we're really trying to do is set the hook so they say 'Hey, Wisconsin is a go-to place.'"
The General Dynamics representatives are in Milwaukee Monday talking with Mike Lovell, dean of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee engineering school and other UWM researchers. They will then travel to Madison and on Tuesday meet with Paul S. Peercy, dean of the UW-Madison engineering school, and researchers from UW-Madison, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stevens and several companies.
General Dynamics representatives will meet Tuesday night with Craig Heim, start-up manager at the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.
