Former Yahoo! Inc. In-House Counsel Michele Floyd Joins Mintz Levin's Palo Alto Office

PALO ALTO, Calif., Jun 29, 2009 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- YHOO | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Continuing the extension of the firm's West Coast presence with the industry's top talent, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C., announced that Michele Floyd, former Senior Legal Director of Commercial Litigation at Yahoo! Inc., has joined the firm as a Member in the Palo Alto office.

During her tenure at Yahoo!, Ms. Floyd was responsible for defending and managing all types of commercial litigation, including unfair competition class actions, trade secret misappropriation, defamation, libel and matters involving the Stored Communications Act and the Computer Decency Act. In addition to managing national and international litigation, Ms. Floyd provided general counseling and advice on a variety of issues.

Prior to Yahoo!, Ms. Floyd was a partner in the Regulatory Litigation Practice Group of Reed Smith where her practice focused on state and federal antitrust and unfair competition claims and included complex litigation such as coordinated, consolidated, multi-state and MDL proceedings and class actions. Throughout her career, she has litigated matters under federal and state antitrust laws as well as under the unfair competition laws of several states, including California, Texas, Illinois, Washington, New York, Florida, Georgia and Nevada. She also has extensive regulatory experience, having represented clients before the Federal Communications Commission, the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau, the Department of Justice and various states attorneys general.

In addition to her experience as a seasoned litigator, Ms. Floyd has counseled clients on multi-state advertising campaigns, state regulatory requirements as they relate to sweepstakes and other promotions, state escheat laws and antitrust and competition issues involving pricing, sales and distribution.

Ms. Floyd is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Fordham University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in California, including all federal courts. Ms. Floyd is a fluent speaker of Italian.
