LCC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd has signed a contract with US Airways to provide maintenance support for the American carrier's flights into Birmingham International Airport during Summer 2009.

The agreement, which commenced in May, will see Monarch's engineering staff carrying out daily checks, unscheduled maintenance and ETOPS support for a US Airways Boeing 757 aircraft operating between Birmingham and Philadelphia on a five times per week service.

Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd and US Airways have previously worked together to support a similar line of flying into Glasgow Airport. The current contract will last for three years.

Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd Managing Director Richard Mintern commented: "We are delighted that US Airways chose Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd as their maintenance partner for their flights to Birmingham.

"With such fierce competition in the maintenance support market, our commitment to customer care and strong reputation for quality, allied to our previous experience working with US Airways at Glasgow, put us in a strong position and we look forward to building on our existing relationship over the next three years."

Other airlines supported by Monarch at Birmingham International Airport include Emirates, Cyprus Airways and PIA, operating aircraft types A320, A321, A330, B757 and B777 as well as Monarch's fleet of A321/320/300/330 and B757/767 aircraft.

Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd provides maintenance and technical support to airlines of all sizes, helping them to meet the challenges of today's demanding and cost-driven marketplace. Employing over 800 staff, they have two Base Maintenance facilities at London Luton Airport and Manchester Airport, eleven permanent Line Stations based at airports in the UK, Europe and Asia as well as three seasonal Line Stations in Europe and Asia.
