SUMMARY NOTICE OF PENDENCY OF SETTLEMENT CLASS ACTION, PROPOSED
SETTLEMENT, AND SETTLEMENT HEARING

TO: ALL PERSONS WHO PURCHASED THE COMMON STOCK OF MBNA CORP. ("MBNA")
BETWEEN JANUARY 20, 2005, AND APRIL 20, 2005, INCLUSIVE, AND WHO WERE
DAMAGED THEREBY (THE "SETTLEMENT CLASS").

You are hereby notified, pursuant to Rule 23 of the federal rules of
civil procedure and by Order of the Court, that a settlement of the
above-captioned action in the amount of US$25,000,000 (Twenty-Five
Million U.S. Dollars) in cash has been reached, subject to final court
approval. A hearing will be held before the Honorable Gregory M. Sleet,
United States District Court Chief Judge, in the United States District
Court for the District of Delaware, J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building, 844
North King Street, Wilmington, DE 19801, at 9:30 a.m. on October 6,
2009, to determine, among other things, whether the proposed settlement
should be approved as fair, reasonable, and adequate and to consider the
application of lead counsel for attorneys' fees and reimbursement of
costs and expenses.

IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF THE SETTLEMENT CLASS DESCRIBED ABOVE, YOUR RIGHTS
WILL BE AFFECTED AND YOU MAY BE ENTITLED TO SHARE IN THE SETTLEMENT
FUND. If you have not yet received the full printed Notice of Pendency
and Proposed Settlement of Class Action ("Notice") and a Proof of Claim
form, you may obtain copies of these documents by contacting the Claims

To participate in the Settlement, you must submit a Proof of Claim
postmarked no later than September 22, 2009. If you are a Settlement
Class Member and do not exclude yourself from the Settlement Class, you
will be bound by the Order and Final Judgment of the Court. To exclude
yourself from the Settlement Class, you must submit a request for
exclusion postmarked no later than September 15, 2009. Any objections to
the Settlement must be filed by September 22, 2009. If you are a
Settlement Class Member and do not submit a proper Proof of Claim, you
will not share in the Settlement Fund but you nevertheless will be bound
by the Order and Final Judgment of the Court.
