BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP) hasn't ruled out pursuing further nickel laterite developments, The Australian Financial Review reported on its Web site Monday, citing the president of stainless steel materials at BHP, Jimmy Wilson.
"BHP remains committed to its nickel business and if we were ever to see a laterite opportunity that really meets our strategy of up-stream, long-life, low-cost, export-orientated and expandable assets, we would definitely contemplate that," the Web site quoted him as saying.
"I don't think the fact that we're selling Yabulu necessarily detracts from us potentially playing in the laterite game in the future," he added, the Web site reported.
