The Canada-based Research in Motion is required to have its service center before July 16, 2009, said Gatot S Dewa Broto, the spokesman of the ministry of communications and Information Technology.
In consequence, certification of RIM telecommunication set of equipment will be suspended that holders of BlackBerry product certificate may not import the products, Gator said.
Earlier the general manager of Postpaid & BlackBerry of PT Excelcomindo Pratama Budi Harjono said RIM would soon establish service center in the country.
The service center will facilitate expansion of RIM business in the country, Budi said.
Currently there are 300,000 BlackBerry subscribers of three telecommunications operators in the country.
In early June, the ministry announced that it had stopped issuing licenses for all Blackberry handsets because its manufacturer, Canada -based Research in Motion, had not yet opened after sales offices in Indonesia as stipulated in a 2008 ministerial decree on the IT community.
The regulation states that all phone producers must open an after sales office when they begin selling products in the country
