One of the largest in Japan, this reactor started test operations in May to confirm that it is safe to run.
The prefectural government plans to hold a meeting of a technical panel on Tuesday to discuss the safety of the plant, followed by a briefing for local residents. An official decision to allow the No. 7 reactor to resume commercial operations is expected to be made as early as this month.
The utility also sought approval to launch a trial run of the No. 6 reactor at the site. This will likely be decided after the No. 7 reactor restarts.
