The Mainland China-based telecoms equipment provider serves as the ODM of such WLAN cards, which, branded with CHT, are applicable to laptops and netbooks.
By far, Taiwan's three biggest telecoms operators have respectively enclosed more than 160,000 mobile Internet users, such as Far Easton Telecommunications Co., Ltd. (TPE: 4904), whose wireless Internet user base had reached 180,000 by the end of last month. Besides, VIBO Telecom Inc. hopes to serve 100,000 such users by this yearend.
As for the entire island, the number of mobile Internet users is expected to reach 800,000 or 850,000 by then end of 2009, generating opportunities for the companies like Huawei and ZTE Corporation (SZSE: 000063 and SEHK: 0763).
In addition, Taipei authorities have greenlighted mainland companies to invest in Taiwan's telecoms value-added services.
