This grant award will be utilized to undertake five projects at the airport: * The first project is to update lighting in the terminal building. The current lighting system is beyond its useful life and lacks efficiency. The updated lighting will provide efficiency and reliability. * The second project is to obtain a power sweeper vehicle, which the airport currently does not have. The acquisition of the power sweeper will allow the airport to quickly remove debris and tire rubber buildup from the runways, taxiways and aprons. * The third project is to design the taxiway 'G' widening. The current taxiway does not meet width requirements. * The fourth project is to obtain a snow plow blade for snow removal. The airport's existing snow plow blade is beyond its useful life. * The fifth project is to update the Airport Layout Plan (ALP). The updated ALP will contain new survey requirements and updated airport design standards. "I am pleased that Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport is being awarded this valuable grant." said Senator Burris. "These funds are imperative in ensuring the efficiency and sustainability of the airport and afford Illinoisans the opportunity to have superior transportation facilities." The grant award is being disbursed by the Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration.
