The plant provides an opportunity for the technology to demonstrate its unique treatment process and the different ways the treated effluent can be used. The plant is a domestic waste water treatment plant to treat 140 cubic meters/per day. The plant is completely mobile and portable and the containerized design provides a quick and comprehensive treatment with minimal on site construction.
To date, the early third party test results of the effluent from the plant shows that it has reduced BOD (a widely used indication of water quality) to 4 mg/Liter. BOD is used to gauge the effectiveness of a waste water treatment plant.
Domenico Venuti, General Manager of RIC Contracting, said, "BioShaft Water Technology has delivered a true green sustainable solution to the construction water cycle at the contractors camp on Nakheel's Jumeirah Village Project."
GCC countries currently spend approximately $133 billion annually on water and wastewater management, according to Palm Water. A study by the World Wildlife fund found the UAE has the world's highest per capita ecological footprint, the measure of how much land and water area is needed to produce the energy requirements of each individual. One of the biggest contributors to the UAE's water demand is its heavy use of air-conditioning.
"This plant will demonstrate our technology in local environments. The data collected provides a benchmark of treatment quality, treatment rates, and other details that engineers can use to build specifications for their future projects," said Hans Badreddine, president of BioShaft Water Technology Inc.
About BioShaft Water Technology Inc.
BioShaft is a green innovative wastewater treatment technology based on Bio-Filtration utilizing biofilm carriers.
