Its first subsidiary is likely to settle down in Beijing. If it happened, it would be the first Taiwanese airline company to branch out into the potentially huge civil aviation market in the mainland.
Spokesperson for China Airlines says that they will file the application anytime soon as Taiwan and the mainland governments have signed agreements on allowing companies across the Taiwan Strait to make mutual investment.
Beijing will be the first stop. And then they will extend their reach to other major mainland companies such as Shanghai and Hangzhou.
The expansion plan of China Airlines comes at a time when some mainland airline companies like Shenzhen Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines are also seeking to build up their presence on the island.
