Lon R. Greenberg, UGI's chairman and chief executive officer said results for the quarter ended June 30 were in line with expectations. He said the propane and gas utility businesses delivered "solid results," while the electric utility and electric generation businesses suffered because of the reduced demand caused by the recession. Revenues were $962 million, compared with $1.3 billion last year. The results included a previously reported charge of $10 million, or 9 cents per share, related to French competition proceedings for its international propane unit. UGI is a holding company with propane marketing, utility and energy marketing subsidiaries. It owns 44 percent of propane distributor AmeriGas Partners L.P., and also owns UGI Utilities, which distributes electricity and gas in Eastern Pennsylvania. Greenberg said the company expects to report net income in the range of $2.30 to $2.40 per share for the full fiscal year, ending Sept. 30. UGI's shares were trading at noon on the New York Stock Exchange at $26.75, unchanged.
