The completed construction of FiberLight's optical network into Terremark's NCR campus allows the company to offer access to a total of 15 carrier networks, with the potential to attract various additional networks in the near future.
Terremark stated that the NAP of the Capital Region's robust infrastructure, along with access to massive carrier connectivity, supplies Terremark with the strong foundation to provide Federal government agencies and enterprises a set of solutions for their mission-critical applications.
"The completion of our optical network into Terremark's NAP of the Capital Region represents a significant, mutually beneficial step for both companies," said Michael P. Miller, CEO and Founder of FiberLight. "Connecting the NCR to Northern Virginia, allows us to extend our footprint while providing Terremark's customers the benefits of FiberLight's robust core metro network and our 24/7 network monitoring capabilities to proactively address any issues."
Strategically located 60 miles from Washington, D.C. in Culpeper, VA, Terremark's NAP of the Capital Region opened in June 2008 with the completion of the first 50,000-square-foot datacenter on a 30-acre campus designed to accommodate up to five independent datacenter buildings that exceed Federal standards for a data communications and hosting facility. Terremark launched construction in January of a second datacenter that also meets the needs of today's power, space and bandwidth-intensive mission-critical applications or hot/warm sites for disaster recovery/COOP environments.
