"We understand the importance of the dividend to shareholders ... and it is a high priority to reinstate the dividend. So we're committed to reinstating the dividend and we will reinstate the dividend when market conditions improve," Carroll said in an in-house interview posted on the company's web site.
Anglo American in February said it would eliminate its final dividend for the first time since 1939. It didn't reinstate the dividend at interim results Friday.
