The contract provides for supply and commissioning of the turbines, as well as a five-year service and maintenance agreement.
Deliveries are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2009 and commissioning is expected to be completed in the summer of 2010.
The Orites wind power plant will have a total installed capacity of 82 MW and is expected to produce 128 GWh a year, thereby meeting the needs of some 25,000 Cypriot households and cutting annual carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 100,000 tonnes.
The order was placed by Cypriot-based developer DK Windsupply Limited, in conjunction with London-based private equity group Platina Partners.
Vestas reiterated its forecast to close 2009 with a revenue of EUR7.2bn and an EBIT margin of 11-13%.
