Most of that loss was a $97 million goodwill charge that the Mobile-based bank took.
Officers insisted the charge would not hurt bank operations.
"BancTrust's second quarter write-down of goodwill is a non-cash accounting entry that has no effect on the operation of our business," president and CEO W. Bibb Lamar said in a news release.
