Chadbourne Elects Four Attorneys to Partnership From New York, Washington, DC Offices

Marissa Leigh Alcala, Age 33, Washington, DC office, Project Finance. Ms. Alcala's practice focuses on representing commercial banks and financial institutions, multilaterals and export credit agencies, as well as project developers and sponsors in the development and financing of infrastructure projects, particularly in non-recourse project financing and tax equity investments. She has worked on projects throughout the United States and extensively in emerging markets in Latin America, Asia and Africa focusing on renewable and conventional power generation, oil and gas exploration and transportation, and biofuels. Ms. Alcala received a B.A. from Yale University in 1997 and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2000.

Eli Katz, Age 36, New York office, Tax and Project Finance. Mr. Katz's practice focuses on federal tax law, with a particular emphasis on energy tax credits, asset-based financing, renewable energy investments and project finance and leasing, both in the United States and abroad. Mr. Katz has extensive expertise advising clients on pricing and the financial modeling of the after-tax economics for complex tax-advantaged partnership and leasing transactions. He received a B.S. from Touro College in 1996, a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1999 and an LL.M. from New York University in 2004.

John Kheit, Age 40, New York office, Intellectual Property. Mr. Kheit's practice focuses on litigating, patenting and licensing a wide range of technologies extending across biomedical, communications, computer and financial services sectors. He has expertise with various technologies including: electronic commerce and payment systems; microprocessors; telephone, wireless and network technologies; and he has been particularly active in various computer software sectors. Mr. Kheit has also been involved in various settlement negotiations and litigation matters involving Internet and commerce-related patents. Prior to his law firm experience, he had hands-on experience in software development at such companies as NeXT Computer, Inc. Mr. Kheit received a B.A. in 1991 and an M.B.A. in 1994 from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and received a J.D. from New York Law School in 1997 and an LL.M. from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1999. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Franklin Pierce, Harvard and the University of Toledo.

Philip Pfeffer, Age 33, New York office, Products Liability and Litigation. Mr. Pfeffer's practice focuses on the defense of individual and class action products liability lawsuits as well as complex commercial litigation. Additionally, Mr. Pfeffer has assisted in the prosecution of numerous civil and criminal appeals in both federal and state courts. He is also a member of Chadbourne's Pro Bono Committee. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Pfeffer was a law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He received a B.A. from Brandeis University in 1997 and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2000, and serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Fordham.
