Stillwater, Okla.-based Southwest Bancorp said the bump in net income came from $3.3 million in other income recorded from its Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.-assisted acquisition of First National Bank of Anthony, and $1.9 million in interest income.
The company's net income was $1.8 million more than the $4.1 million it recorded in second quarter 2008.
The company's assets were $3 billion at the end of June 30.
In June, South Hutchinson-based SNB Bank of Kansas acquired the assets and assumed liabilities of First National, which operated a west Wichita branch. The FDIC-assisted acquisition increased SNB's Kansas branches to nine, including two in Wichita.
