The plan unraveled after police -- alerted by a neighbor -- arrived at the FirstMerit Bank at 2878 State Road about 7:30 a.m.
Police, outside the bank, spoke via cell phone with the victim and a female suspect, who were inside the bank, which had not yet opened for the day.
The female suspect released the victim unharmed and surrendered to police, Falls Capt. Tom Pozza said today.
Another suspect -- a man -- who had driven a separate vehicle to the bank -- is still at large.
FBI spokesman Scott Wilson said, "The police did a great job. They get the call . . . and immediately start looking for a vehicle that had been reported taken by the suspects."
Wilson said the police found the vehicle near the FirstMerit Bank, and then surrounded the bank.
Pozza said the female suspect knew the victim, who is in her 20s.
"The plot was they were going to take this girl up there and use the key before it opened and clean the bank out," Pozza said.
The woman and man kidnapped the victim sometime after 7 a.m. from her home in the 700 block of Viewpoint Drive, Pozza said.
After the suspects and the female victim left for the bank, the victim's boyfriend, who police said had been bound with duct tape, alerted the neighbor, who called police.
Falls police were attempting to identify the male suspect this afternoon.
The FBI's Wilson said the woman faces federal charges. Authorities did not release her name today, pending further investigation.
FirstMerit Corp. spokesman Rob Townsend would only say they were "working closely with law enforcement."
