As part of the transaction, Qatar Telecom (Qtel) has acquired 426.8 million shares, equivalent to 33% of Liberty's outstanding shares.
The acquisition is in line with the partnership agreement signed between Philippines-based food and beverage company San Miguel and Qtel in 2008 to venture into wireless broadband and mobile phone services in the Philippines using Liberty as a vehicle.
San Miguel, through its wholly owned subsidiary Vega Telecom, has acquired 32.7% of Liberty Telecommunications in July 2009.
