The profits were 438.2 million yuan or 64.2 million dollars in the same quarter of 2008 and 416.7 million yuan in the first quarter of 2009.
In the quarter ended June 30, 2009, the company's revenues amounted to 872.1 million yuan, or 127.7 million dollars, higher than the market expectation of 120.43 million dollars.
This includes 781.5 million yuan or 114.4 million dollars from online games, 17.8 million yuan or 2.6 million dollars from wireless value-added services (WVAS) and related businesses, and 72.8 million yuan or 10.7 million dollars from advertising services.
Revenue from the online game section soared 196.9 percent, but from advertising services decreased by 30 percent. Shanghai Netease, which merged with Netease.com (NTES.NASDAQ) in early June, won the operating rights for World of Warcraft, a popular online game developed by the leading US online game developer Blizzard Entertainment. The game resumed services with an open testing program at the end of July.
