Gildan Activewear Inc.'s (GIL, $16.93, -$0.39, -2.3%) third-quarter earnings fell to 34 cents a share from 45 cents a year earlier. Excluding charges and tax recoveries, it earned 32 cents. The Thomson Reuters mean earnings estimate was 29 cents.
Teck Resources Ltd. (TCK, C$28.67, C$1.00, 3.6%) said there may be a delay in the start-up of its Andacollo copper project in Chile due to challenges to water-supply permits.
Kinross Gold Corp. (KGC, $19.47, $0.14, 0.7%) said second-quarter adjusted earnings rose to 12 cents a share and revenue in the period doubled. It boosted its dividend but cut its 2009 production forecast slightly.
Onex Corp. (OCX.T, C$22.01, C$0.30, 1.4%) reported a 10% drop in revenue and a 20% drop in operating earnings in the second quarter. It also sold part of its stake in Emergency Medical Services Corp. (EMS) in a secondary offering for six times cost.
Eldorado Gold Corp. (EGO, $10.41, -$0.01, -0.1%) has discovered a new zone of mineralization at its Tanjianshan Mine in China.
