This was a slight reduction compared to a loss of CHF67.9m, or CHF7.11 per share, in the corresponding period of 2008.
Revenues and other income increased to CHF12.2m for the half year, as compared with CHF5.3m in the first half of the prior year, reportedly as a result of increased product sales due to successful first launches of Toctino in Europe.
Basilea reconfirmed guidance for 2009, with Toctino sales estimated at around CHF15m to CHF20m. Net loss is estimated at between CHF12m to CHF13m per month.
