Gov. Jim Doyle's office announced the move, which will consolidate much of the Zeeland, Mich., furniture manufacturer's health care production in Sheboygan. The company will receive a $500,000 loan and up to $750,000 in economic development tax credits from the state Department of Commerce and support from Sheboygan's city and county governments. "Our employees and the Sheboygan community have welcomed the announcement of new production at our Nemschoff operations," said Beth Nickels, president of Herman Miller Healthcare, in a statement. The $2.5 million project is expected to create 150 jobs over the next two years and retain 394 jobs, according to the state. A Herman Miller spokesman wasn't available for comment. Herman Miller posted sales of $1.6 billion in the fiscal year that ended in May. The company acquired Brandrud, which is based in Auburn, Wash., in 2008 and then acquired Nemschoff in June. In a June conference call with investment analysts, Herman Miller executives said Nemschoff had $90 million in annual sales and that the firm expects an earnings boost in years ahead because of synergies through the combination of Herman Miller Healthcare, Brandrud and Nemschoff.
