The company realized a profit even though its revenue fell 27 percent year on year to 81.7 million dollars and the gross margin decreased to 43 percent, thanks to a year-on-year drop of 44 percent in operating expenses, which were down to 32.1 million dollars in Q2.
CDC Software (CDCS.NASDAQ), a subsidiary of CDC Corporation, recorded revenue of 50.6 million dollars in Q2, down from the 66.8 million dollars in the same period of last year. Its net profit, however, amounted to 5.9 million dollars, compared to a net loss of 241,000 dollars a year ago.
The company expects its annual revenues ranging from 197 million dollars to 200 million dollars in 2009, and the net profit to be from 15 million dollars to 18 million dollars.
