Silver Lake, a global private investment firm specializing in technology, technology-enabled, and related growth industries, is implementing a video program for improving management collaboration on projects with portfolio companies. Eric Rosenberg, Silver Lake's Chief Information Officer, said, "Our goal was to find a comprehensive solution with the necessary components required for successful implementation of a video program. We also wanted to generate broad user adoption of video communications, which we view as a critical management collaboration tool. ConferencePoint(TM) met our criteria at every level, and in particular, its full-service VNOC managed service that takes the burden off and extends the capabilities of our IT resources."
The firm will leverage AVI-SPL's ConferencePoint(TM) solution, powered by Glowpoint managed services, combined with AVI-SPL's custom A/V integration for Silver Lake offices around the world including their co-headquarters in Menlo Park, California, and New York, as well as in London and Hong Kong. "We continue to see interest, in a single comprehensive solution, from customers around the world," said Michael Brandofino, EVP of video and unified communications for AVI-SPL. "Our integration services are unmatched and drive opportunities to provide these sophisticated solutions to companies like Silver Lake."
The ConferencePoint "Elite" service provides the management of Silver Lake's video communications infrastructure, which includes 11 HD-enabled conference rooms in four geographically dispersed offices across a private IP network environment. The solution leverages best-of-breed technology, featuring comprehensive room certification, proactive monitoring of all room components, 24/7 proactive and on-demand help desk support, calendar and room resource management, automated call scheduling and launching, complete conference production, and comprehensive reporting for room utilization and network performance. In addition, by integrating B2B calling capabilities through Glowpoint's Telepresence interExchange Network (TEN), Silver Lake will also be able to communicate with outside portfolio companies and other telepresence and video users that are part of the exchange.
Glowpoint President and co-CEO Joe Laezza said, "While the economy continues to present challenges to the global business community, telepresence and video are considered investment solutions to manage costs and improve global communications and productivity. Frost and Sullivan, and Wainhouse Research, have recently reported on the emerging global growth of video, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to partner and support industry leaders such as AVI-SPL in their efforts to supply comprehensive turnkey solutions to an increasing global base of clients."
Glowpoint's strong position in the industry was highlighted in a recent Frost & Sullivan report that identified it as a leading service provider focused on a fast growing market for videoconferencing services. Frost & Sullivan expects that the total market for videoconferencing systems and services will exceed $4 billion by 2013. Wainhouse Research's report noted an "exploding demand for video managed services and Telepresence" in their publication, Collaboration Services: North America - Forecast & Provider Reviews - 2009, Assessment of US & Canadian Collaboration Service Provider Markets.
