Aug 21, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- TLSRP | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Telos executives will provide cybersecurity expertise during the Air Force Information Technology Conference (AFITC) in Montgomery, Ala., August 24-27.

Various seminars will illustrate how advanced technologies can be employed to build and secure the communications, systems and networks, as well as physical and logical access to resources for Air Force and joint commands. The following abstracts outline the topics to be covered.

- Comparing DIACAP to IT-GRC Objectives

Speaker: David Wilson, Vice President of Product Management, Xacta Information Assurance Solutions

Date/Time: Monday, August 24, 1:30 p.m.

The Department of Defense Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP) within the U.S. Defense community and the certification and accreditation (C&A) process, in general, accomplish more than the obvious. The core outcome of DIACAP and other C&A processes is generally said as "security authorization" in which a decision is made to authorize a system to operate. That is, getting an authorization to operate, or ATO. In fact, C&A accomplishes much more. These other objectives are similar when compared to the benefits of Information Technology Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance (IT-GRC). Industry analysts, such as Gartner and Forrester, and many IT product and service vendors are promoting IT-GRC products and services. In this presentation, Wilson will explain the benefits of governance, risk management, and compliance processes, products and services available in the commercial sector and compare these to DIACAP. Additionally, the traditional commercial roles and players in the IT-GRC process will be compared to the DIACAP roles and responsibilities, followed by a discussion of these processes relative to the AF SISSU process. This presentation is appropriate for anyone involved in conducting C&A, from systems administrators to executive decision makers.

- Green Power Solutions for Remote Wireless Video Surveillance Systems

Speaker: Robert Smith, Director of Technology and Architecture, Telos Secure Networks

Date/Time: Monday, August 24, 2:30 p.m.

This seminar will discuss the utilization of wireless and solar technologies to enhance video surveillance application needs. It will also provide insight into solutions that integrate key technologies such as cameras, sensors, digital video management, mesh and point-to-multipoint wireless with alternative power solutions such as solar panels. It will examine applicability of solutions to various environments.

- Field Deployable Communications

Speaker: Robert Smith, Director of Technology and Architecture, Telos Secure Networks

Date/Time: Monday, August 24, 3:30 p.m.

This brief will focus on the impact and viability of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communications systems for both tactical war fighters and logisticians in the field. It will look at options including licensed and unlicensed frequencies and will discuss the applications of each, revealing the constraints associated with host nation approval and the processes for granting use of systems and licensing. Security concerns will be addressed and mitigation strategies will be discussed. The brief will review performance thresholds and pitfalls in vendor-advertised throughputs. Non-line-of-site (NLOS) and line-of-site (LOS) performance comparisons for both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint scenarios will be examined. Impacts of competing bands will be reviewed and inherent as well as user-initiated interference mitigation approaches will be discussed.

- The Future of Network Architecture Management

Speaker: Jeff Schneider, Director of Advanced Technologies, Telos Secure Networks

Date/Time: Tuesday, August 25, 12:30 p.m.

This seminar will address the next-generation Network Architecture Management, integrating geospatial and network infrastructure design and data management to enable simultaneous and collaborative interaction with digital content through a simplified human interface.

Telos has provided innovative IT solutions and services to the federal government for more than 30 years, focusing since 1989 on secure enterprise solutions.
