The company said Indonesia Tower operates over 800 towers across the country and had a customer base of 1,400 last year. The acquisition could strengthen Mitratel's plans to become a major tower company in Indonesia, while adding strategic infrastructure for PT Telkom.
Rinaldi Firmansyah, president of PT Telkom, said: "We believe towers are strategic infrastructure for ICT companies such as Telkom and this acquisition will strengthen our position in the industry."
In June, PT Telkom took full control of call center service provider PT Infomedia Nusantara after it agreed to acquire 49% stake in the company from PT Elnusa. It already owned 51% of Infomedia through its subsidiary PT Multimedia Nusantara. The company said the total stake in Infomedia will strengthen its business transition to offer telecoms, information, media and edutainment services.
