The South Korean display maker announced lately that it had signed a non-binding memo of understanding with the Guangzhou government about the factory's establishment. However, the plan is still subject to the company's board and South Korean regulators.
In May 2008, LG Display competed its LCD module factory here, which is expected to have an annual production capacity of 20 million sets by 2010.
Upon earlier reports, China-based LCD manufacturer Infovision Optoelectronics (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. has been greenlighted by regulators to set up an 8.5G LCD panel factory, and its peer BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 000725) is also brewing the building of an 8G LCD panel production line in Beijing with an investment of nearly CNY 28 billion.
