Vimicro is a leading Chinese multimedia semiconductor and solution provider and Leadcore is a subsidiary of Datang Telecom Technology Co., Ltd. (SHSE: 600198). The latter is a bellwether in the TD-SCDMA field and a leader in terms of equipment solutions for TD-SCDMA users.
Both sides will team up to develop 3G mobile technologies based on the TD-SCDMA and multimedia standards for China Mobile Ltd. (SEHK: 0941; NYSE: CHL). Vimicro will provide the latter with mobile multimedia technologies and solutions including the mobile TV technology.
Both Vimicro Board Chairman and CEO Deng Zhonghan and Leadcore President Sun Yuwang expect their cooperation to bolster up the popularization of 3G mobile phones in China.
Recently, China Mobile and China Satellite Mobile Broadcasting Corporation announced their cooperation to provide users with TD-SCDMA-based 3G mobile communications service and CMMB mobile TV multimedia applications.
