Beijing-based China Mobile to work on 4G systems with Taiwan

PowerRating -- The Beijing-based CHINA
MOBILE LTD (SEHK:941), the world's largest mobile carrier, will
work with Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute
(ITRI) to develop 4G technologies, Wang Jianzhou, chairman of
the state-run Chinese company, said Wednesday. During a visit
to the Hsinchu Science Park in Hsinchu City, northern Taiwan,
Wang also confirmed that he will meet with Morris Chang,
founder and chairman of the world's largest chipmaker TAIWAN
SEMICONDUCTOR MANUFACTURING CO. (TSMC).
* Wang is exploring opportunities to forge alliances with
local high-tech enterprises to open up the vast mainland China
market to advanced telecommunications products.
* Since his arrival in Taiwan Aug. 21, Wang has signed a
memorandum with Taiwan's handset maker HTC CORP. to jointly
develop smartphones and relevant technologies, and has met with
many local high-tech tycoons, including CHUNGHWA TELECOM
Chairman Lu Shyue-ching and ACER INC.
