Earlier on, China Mobile and China Satellite Mobile Broadcasting Corporation announced plans to launch TD-SCDMA-based 3G mobile communication services, which would require the pre-installment of mobile TV multimedia applications based on the standard of China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting.
The Vimicro-Leadercore partnership will provide comprehensive mobile multimedia technologies and solutions for the carrier, including mobile TV technology.
Sun Yuwang, president of Leadcore, said that the company, subsidiary to Datang Telecom Technology Holding Co., Ltd., was a dominant TD-SCDMA provider and recently won more than half of China Mobile's TD-SCDMA handset procurement.
