Darry Goff, known on the streets as "Lucky," was sent to Schenectady County Jail without bail after appearing before City Court Judge Christine Clark. He is charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies, in the Aug. 25 shooting outside 241 Park Place.
The 33-year-old pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot Craig Brinson, 35, three times from close range following a dispute, according to the criminal complaint. Brinson was taken to Ellis Hospital.
City Police spokesman Sgt. Eric Clifford said today that the shooting stemmed from an argument between tenants, though he was unsure if either Goff or the victim lived on Park Place. The booking sheet lists a James Street address in Schenectady's Central State Street neighborhood for Goff.
Outside court, Goff's attorney, Steven X. Kouray, said his client was at the residence to visit someone while there were a group of people waiting for the landlord. He declined further comment.
Goff is scheduled to return to court Friday for a preliminary hearing, Kouray said. He said police were also questioning a second man who he identified as Kori Overton in connection with the shooting.
