The recruitment plan comes after the automaker reduced the number of such employees at the three plants from about 2,700 last fall to zero in July.
Hino intends to hire about 600 fixed-term employees for Tokyo's Hamura plant producing the Land Cruiser Prado sport utility vehicle for its parent Toyota Motor Corp.
Of the remainder, around 250 are planned for a truck engine plant in Ota, Gunma Prefecture, and some 50 for a truck plant in Hino, Tokyo.
