In a release on August 24, the Company said the site combines tips and tools, as well as a style quiz, contest and first-timers paint guide.
"Let's face it, almost every guy has that prized bachelor possession, and almost every woman would love to toss it. But choosing a home decor that combines both styles doesn't have to be difficult," said Sue Kim, color stylist for Valspar Corp. "Paint, for example, is a simple and affordable way to bring two styles together to create a unified look. Couples can find tips on paint and color as part of Valspar's 'Love, Our Style' program, which features several tools for couples to help them merge styles and to have fun doing it."
"Love, Our Style," also features a quiz to help couples identify their individual styles and merge them into one look. After answering 10 multiple-choice questions, a couple's combined style is revealed, which they can share with friends and family via Facebook or email.
"We came up with some playful, yet challenging, questions that reveal each person's taste," said Kim. "After sharing the results of their style as a couple, we provide tips on how to bring it to life in the home, including a specific color palette that reflects their merged style."
Couples across America can share their style dilemma with Valspar for a chance to win a home decor/paint makeover. By going to Valspar's "Love, Our Style" Flickr site, the company said that couples can upload their photos and tell Valspar why they need help merging styles. Newlyweds moving into their first home, the company noted, are usually new to working with paint, especially when working together. The site featuwith tips, tools and advice on every topic, and also includes a Painting 101 guide to help make the painting experience a memorable one.
"We understand what first-time painters are facing, and adding the dynamic of a new couple working together compounds the decision-making," said Kim. "What I particularly like are the tips we share to help couples talk to each other about their personal taste and what they envision their home will look like, which is practical advice any couple could use."
Kim recommends that couples start talking about color and home decor even before they unite in marriage. "The wedding gift registry is often a first step in merging styles and sets the stage for home decor," she added.
