Under the terms of the agreement, Ikanos receives a license to ASSIA's essential DSM patents and certain technology for the development of vectored DSL products, or DSM Level 3, which are capable of delivering speeds of 100 Mbps and greater over existing copper loops.
In addition, the two companies will co-market each others' products to the network equipment and service provider industries.
DSM 3 is one of the three levels of DSM defined in the ATIS DSM Technical Report (ATIS PP-0600007) for managing noise, power and crosstalk in DSL systems of all types, namely ADSL1, ADSL2/2+ and VDSL, in both single service provider and unbundled, multiple service provider environments.
ASSIA is a provider of high-performance software development tools for Dynamic Spectrum Management (DSM) of DSL systems.
Ikanos Communications is a provider of advanced broadband semiconductor and software products for the digital home.
