The financial terms of the settlement were not revealed.
According to the company, Cognex has alleged in complaints filed with the US International Trade Commission (ITC) and in federal court in Massachusetts that HALCON software, marketed by MVTec Software GmbH, a manufacturer of software tools for machine vision, infringes at least three Cognex machine vision patents.
In addition to Multitest, Cognex said that the ITC is investigating 20 other companies for violating the company's patents by selling importing and using MVTec products.
The current settlement agreement releases Multitest from the ITC investigation. The company is not a party to the federal court lawsuit.
Multitest Elektronische Systeme is a manufacturer of test equipment for semiconductors.
