Myth: The more detergent, the better! When using a cleaning product, use only the amount of cleaning product required to do the job. Otherwise, you will just waste time wiping up the excess. If the job is tough, use proper equipment, like a non-scratch scrubber, to cut through the grease and grime.
Myth: Dust hard surfaces last. Always clean top to bottom, left to right, dusting before vacuuming the floors. Today's vacuums and filters are made more efficiently so they do not kick up the dust they once did.
Myth: Vacuums are just for carpets. With their multitude of tools, vacuum cleaners can be used on ceiling fans, window seals, drapes, upholstered furniture, and much more. They can make cleaning easier and more efficient, if used to their full capabilities.
Myth: Spray polish directly on wood furniture. Always spray the cloth, not the furniture. Overspray may damage surfaces nearby like painted or wallpapered walls. Use a micro-fiber cloth for dusting for the best possible clean, and to minimize spreading dust back into the air.
Myth: Rinse! With today's lineup of safe, cleaning products, rinsing may not be necessary. Often you can squirt a cloth, wipe and go - sans the extra water! Always read and follow a product's use and care instructions.
