Sales of cars of Japanese, German, American, South Korean and French brands each respectively reached 149,900 units, 133,900 units, 85,600 units, 62,600 units and 21,200 units in the same month, taking up 23.81 percent, 21.28 percent, 13.61 percent, 9.93 percent and 3.37 percent of the country's total car sales.
Homegrown cars continued to lead car sales in China in each of the first six months this year, but lagged behind Japanese brand cars and ranked the second in July.
Homegrown passenger vehicle sales reached 357,300 units, accounting for 41.63 percent of total passenger vehicle sales.
In August, sales of passenger vehicles of Japanese, German, American, South Korean and French brands were 183,300 units, 135,600 units, 89,700 units, 71,200 units and 21,200 units, accounting for 21.36 percent, 15.79 percent, 10.45 percent, 8.3 percent and 2.47 percent, respectively.
