A Hickory police K-9 team tracked him through the rear parking lot of the Hickory Daily Record, where the suspect was spotted sprinting toward Interstate 40.
He walked into the bank and stepped up to the last teller and said, "Give me everything you have," said Hickory Investigator Heather McNally.
He insinuated he had a gun by keeping his hand in his pocket and pointing it at the teller as he said he didn't want any trouble, Whisnant said.
The suspect has a small tattoo on his left wrist and wore a light blue jacket over a white T-shirt, according to witnesses.
Police investigators have recovered his jacket.
The suspect is described as a white male with short dark hair and a medium build.
Anyone with information about the bank robbery is asked to call the Hickory Police Department at 328-5551.
